Final Thoughts...
This section is an opportunity for me to share some personal reflections on the Master of Education program. The past three years have been a period of personal transformation, professional growth, and new beginnings. Over the course of this degree, I gained confidence in my abilities and acquired the courage to overcome my fears and achieve a goal that, earlier in my life, I believed was unattainable.
This program has also enabled me to reflect on my career and in doing so, break ties with my past. Not too long ago, I was a primary/junior classroom teacher jumping from one supply teaching job to another, struggling to secure permanent employment. This degree changed my definition of the term "educator", and in doing so, opened my eyes to new career possibilities and aspirations. I have come to realize that the role of a teacher goes far beyond lecturing to students within the four walls of a standard school classroom. Instead, through the use of technology, educators can facilitate an interactive, student led, and globally connected learning experience.
As a result, I have become an e-learning specialist, working with companies to facilitate the diffusion of technology into their corporate training. In this role, I have worked with teams of professionals to translate traditional training modules into interactive e-learning experiences. This has required critical thinking, problem solving, technical skills, and a working knowledge of educational and learning theory, all of which I acquired through this program.
The photograph above is of a sunset that was taken on a family camping trip. It is a beautiful sight that was taken at the end of a wonderful day. A sunset can be seen as both an end and a new beginning. As one day comes to an end, another is about to begin. Similar to my own journey, the completion of this degree represents both the end of a difficult, yet enriching experience, and the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

Acknowledgements:
I would like to take the time to thank the people in my life without whom I would not have been able to achieve this goal. To all of my Professors at UOIT who were patient and kind and were always available to help. To my Parents and In-Laws for their unwavering support and encouragement. To my children, Maya, Noah and Aiden who will probably never remember what we all went through but, will hopefully appreciate the results. Most importantly, I would like to thank my amazing husband Darren who was my paper reader, cheerleader and support system throughout this whole process. You made me believe that I could get into the program and supported me throughout. It is to him that I dedicate this website.
